Hi Rob & Lauren, This is an awesome site! I too am a Canadian photographer who loves to travel with my husband. If you want to see something exotic and yet beautiful, travel to Georgia (the country, not the state). Absolutely gorgeous, great food and an adventure. Uzbekistan is also amazing...just came back from Tibet. Have fun on your travels!

I just love your blogs. Especially all the travel pictures. I am very much addicted to travelling and in the last year have started getting interested in photography. My favourite places so far are 1) Vietnam (anywhere and everywhere) 2) Thailand (specifically chiang mai and the islands) 3) Cambodia Thanks again for all you wonderful inspiring pictures!

I think the orient is over done. Turkey would be great, or one of the "stans". Ethiopia would also be good. When evaluating places I think it's a good idea to go to Flickr and put in something like "Laos Landscape" and then sort by interesting. I say landscape, because the people will be interesting anywhere, at-least to us.

Lots of favourites, but I recently visited Malta and LOVED it! So beautiful, and tons of ancient history.

Ridiculously awesome pictures! My favourite traveling experience... Leaving Panama City, 4x4ing through the jungle ending at the Caribbean Ocean to hop on the Stahlratte (sail boat). We sailed to the San Blas Islands, Colombia, Cuba and Jamaica. Awesome time!

Vietnam: Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Dalat, Ha Long Bay, HCMC, I've been to all. And they are all uniquely beautiful but if I had to chose one, I'd go for Nha Trang.

Hi there, I too am a travel photographer and teacher here in Edmonton and just found your site. I see you've been to and love Cusco - we are actually working towards going there for the winter and possible a move to the valley. As for suggestions, I just came back from Turkey, did a big tour which I usually don't do, but gave me ideas on where I want to go back and see more. Definitely an interesting country, great food, and the people - especially the kids - LOVE to be photographed! They see a camera and jump in front of it and yell "photo photo!" and it may be the only word of English they know. I befriended a young boy and his sister at one town and he ended up giving me a picture he drew and I gave him a Canada flag - and took their photo of course! LOL. In Turkey I'd recommend the following: Instanbul (big city, lots of history, 100s of mosques) go to Hagia Sophia, the Topkapii palace, Grand Bazaar and Spice Market, go each at the fisherman's wharf area, and see Roman ruins including the cistern underground. Capadocia region - WAY cool, just google it! Cave houses and whole underground cities, 800+ years old. Antalya - gorgeous resort town and beaches. For Roman ruins: Ephesus (go early and beat the buses though), Perge, Pergemon, and Aspendos - all good. I also love Thailand and Singapore.
